Moving St Paul’s to Bridge Street

Moving St Paul’s to Bridge Street

By Rev Justin Groves

Over the last year many people, including other vicars, have talked to me of having had to at some point ‘close a church’ too. Whilst I have valued both their interest and support I have had to gently say that we have only closed a building and that St Paul’s as a church remains very much open and in many ways is thriving. Last summer when the leadership of St Paul’s took the courageous decision to look for a new home because of the huge amount of money needed for repairs and maintenance and development of the church building, I felt God say very clearly to me that the Son was not setting on St Paul’s. We are now based in our new home at the other end of town in Bridge St in what was the main post office up until a few years ago and it’s a great place with exciting possibilities, but the move to here from Commercial St has been anything but straight forward and easy. I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has helped over the last year and especially for all those who have prayed for us, when things got hard going.

As well as continuing to welcome people to meet Jesus as a Church in a fantastic new venue we will be also considering fresh ways of being and doing church outside of our new walls in the city centre community. Please feel to drop in for a tea or coffee and a chat during the week if you are passing. Please also continue to pray that we will be faithful in our witness as well as our worship in our new home.
